The Pacific Island Health Officers Association (PIHOA) held its 50th meeting and 25th Anniversary, on April 4th through 8th, 2011, in the Republic of Palau. Information related to PIHOA's Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Initiative will be posted shortly.

The 50th PIHOA meeting addressed the mandates of PIHOA Resolution 48-01, Declaring a Regional State of Health Emergency due to the Epidemic of Non-Communicable Diseases in the United States Affiliated Pacific Islands.  The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the capacity of all participating stakeholders to partner, coordinate, harmonize and leverage resources more effectively for the elimination of non-communicable diseases among the USAPI.
