Friday, July 22, 2022 (Honolulu, HI) – Dr. Haley Cash, PIHOA Regional Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Epidemiologist for the USAPIs, completed the Pacific Public Health Fellowship Programs’ Meet the Expert Summer Series yesterday with her discussion on NCDs and surveillance in the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands (USAPIs). NCD surveillance is improving in the region, but the burden of NCDs remains high in the USAPIs. Given the high prevalence of NCDs, increased risk of severe COVID-19, and death among those with NCDs, Dr. Cash stressed that we must revisit our NCD response efforts through evaluation.
