January 27, 2026 (Majuro, RMI) – As part of the 77th PIHOA Executive Board Meeting (EBM) recap series from November 2025, this fourth installment highlights Day 4 of the meeting, featuring presentations from the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Ministry of Health and Human Services (MOHHS).

RMI MOHHS shared key efforts to strengthen public health infrastructure, workforce capacity, and health information systems across its 50 remote atoll Neighboring Island Health Centers (NIHC), supported by the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). Investments in solar-powered connectivity, Starlink installation, and targeted training have expanded telehealth services, real-time access to Ministry Health Information Systems, and improved service delivery for outer-island communities.

The session also highlighted the RMI’s investments in early childhood development (ECD), funded by the World Bank, which are integrating health, nutrition, and education services into rural and outer-island health programs to support early detection and improved childhood outcomes.

The afternoon concluded with a powerful presentation from the RMI National Nuclear Commission, underscoring the lasting public health impacts of nuclear testing and the importance of regional and global advocacy. RMI leaders acknowledged PIHOA’s support in advancing World Health Assembly Resolution WHA78.28 – Effects of Nuclear War on Public Health, reinforcing the need for continued partnership, peace, and collective action.

Together, these presentations reflected the RMI’s leadership, resilience, and commitment to strengthening public health systems, advancing nuclear justice, and improving health outcomes for Marshallese communities across the Pacific.
