March 30, 2026 (Tamuning, Guam) – PIHOA is proud to highlight Dr. Matthew Lopez, a Saipan-raised physician and emerging leader in primary care who is helping advance healthcare access for Pacific Island communities.

As a National Health Service Corps Scholar and a dual Internal Medicine and Pediatrics resident, Dr. Lopez is committed to serving underserved populations and strengthening care for families across the region. His work reflects a whole-person approach to health and a strong dedication to improving health equity in island communities.

“Growing up in Saipan, I saw firsthand the barriers to access that many families experience,” Dr. Lopez shared. “Those early experiences shaped my calling to serve those whom the healthcare system often leaves behind.”

Dr. Lopez’s journey reflects the importance of supporting Pacific Islander health professionals who are committed to giving back to their communities and helping build stronger, more sustainable health systems across the Pacific.
