November 19, 2024 (Pohnpei, FSM).Day 2 marked the first open session of the 75th PIHOA Executive Board Meeting, welcoming invited guests, partners, and members of the local community to join the discussions. We were deeply honored to welcome His Excellency Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia, to the 75th PIHOA Executive Board Meeting. His powerful address highlighted the critical impacts of climate change on health and the growing burden of non-communicable diseases across the Pacific Islands. Vice President Palikʻs presence and support underscore the importance of collective action to address these urgent regional challenges. The day continued with inspiring updates from our health leaders across the region, showcasing remarkable achievements and strategic progress.

A few highlights include:

-Yap’s near elimination of cervical cancer through the Pacific Against Cervical Cancer (PACE) Project, a groundbreaking milestone for the FSM.
-Guam’s aggressive efforts to enroll all COFA citizens in Medicaid, ensuring greater access to critical healthcare services.
-Palau’s ambitious hospital rebuilding project, reflecting its commitment to modernizing healthcare infrastructure.
-The Marshall Islands’ successful strategic planning initiatives, setting a strong foundation for future health improvements.
