July 3, 2025 (Honolulu, HI) – The Strengthening Health Interventions in the Pacific (SHIP) program is proud to announce the launch of a new Postgraduate Certificate in Field Epidemiology (PGCFE) cohort in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia.

From June 2–6, 2025, a total of 15 participants from the Chuuk Department of Health Services, including four current fellows from the Pacific Public Health Fellowship Program (PPHFP) successfully completed the first of five training modules, Introduction to Health Information Systems. This foundational course equips public health professionals with the skills needed to effectively manage, analyze, and utilize health data for informed decision-making.

The next module in the series, Investigation and Management of Disease Outbreaks, will further strengthen the cohort’s capacity to respond to public health threats in the region.

This intensive training series supports the development of a skilled local public health workforce equipped to address complex health challenges through practical, field-based learning.
